RESPITE CARE

Respite care is a short break away providing ‘time off’. When we use the term respite care we mean care that is provided on a short term basis for those who need help and normally live at home, so that their carers can have a break from caring. Some people prefer the term 'short breaks' to the term 'respite'. Respite care services support carers to continue their caring role.

You may want a break so that you can follow up your interests or catch up with family or friends. You may want to plan a longer break to allow you to go on holiday. Respite care might also be needed if the carer has to go into hospital or has other important commitments.

The person you care for may benefit from a break too, for example by getting out the house, meeting people or taking part in interesting activities.

Our Home Managers will be happy to advise you of current availability. They will talk to you about the needs of the person requiring the care and tailor a respite care package to meet your specific requirements.
