Shrove Tuesday
Pancake Day ( also known as Shrove Tuesday) is the last day before the period which Christians call Lent <http://projectbritain.com/lent.html> .  It is traditional on this day to eat pancakes.  On 21st February we kept this tradition alive, pancakes were made and we had a bit of fun seeing if after tossing them in the air we could catch them in the pan again!

Let’s Get Creative
The beginning of the year has been a busy time for residents who have been marking special dates on the calendar which have included Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Shrove Tuesday and St David’s Day.  We still have St Patrick’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter and the Queen’s Jubilee to follow.  These events have given us the opportunity to get creative and make cards, cakes, biscuits and decorations to celebrate the various events.

Dementia Quality Mark Success
Earlier in 2011 Hengrove Lodge applied for a scheme being run by Bristol City Council to recognise good quality dementia care provided in the home. After a rigorous process of form filling and inspection the application was submitted to panel and the award granted. Congratulations to all at Hengrove Lodge whose hard work and commitment have enabled the home to provide high quality dementia care and to have this formally recognised.
